Christmas Hub creates magic in the city

Christmas Hub creates magic in the city

A magical Christmas Hub where children can decorate gingerbread men and listen to Christmas stories has landed in Chester city centre.

Courtesy of CH1ChesterBID Company – the team behind Chester’s Business Improvement District – The Christmas Hub is part of the Chester Kidsmas festival, organised in conjunction with Marketing Cheshire.

Located at 23 Bridge Street, with the loan of a vacant unit from ‘Nationwide’, the hub will provide a place for children and their parents to enjoy traditional Christmas activities together whilst visiting the city centre.

Children aged two to twelve can take part in the gingerbread decorating and storytelling sessions every Saturday from 29th November up until 20th December. Celebrity chef Luke Thomas, who is set to open his new restaurant ‘Luke’s Eating House’ on St John Street soon, will be making guest appearances at some of the sessions, giving the children top decorating tips and reading classic Christmas stories.

From the 4th of December the magic continues with tales from The Journey Man, a fascinating figure who will delight young and old with his fables of how Christmas is celebrated in other countries.

Carrying his storystick covered with the items he has gathered from more than 20 years of adventures across the world, the Journey Man will enchant audiences with tales including King Wenceslas and how a mouse created the popular carol, “Silent Night”.

Storytelling with the Journey Man will take place on Thursday 4th, Sunday 7th, Sunday 14th, Thursday 18th and Sunday 21st of December.

CH1ChesterBID Chair Paul Daniels, said: “Chester Kidsmas is all about seeing Christmas through a child’s eyes and finding the magic in Christmas celebrations.

“We wanted to have an area dedicated specifically to children, somewhere fun where they could take their parents and indulge in some festive activities together and create treasured memories of a Chester Christmas. The Christmas Hub ticks all the boxes.

“We’re very lucky that Luke Thomas and The Journey Man are able to visit the Hub to run these sessions for us. It’s fantastic to be able to bring events like these to Chester and we’re sure everyone who visits will have a wonderful time.”

Both events are free but tickets must be booked in advance due to limited numbers available per session. Parents are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
