A Tameside forecourt has become the first in Greater Manchester to be awarded a new gold standard site safety sticker.
Bancroft Service Station, on Droylsden Road, Audenshaw, was awarded the badge of honour after an exemplary H&S audit. Inspectors scored the BP-branded site 95 percent.
The new scheme, masterminded by forecourt compliance experts Suresite Group, awards petrol stations achieving a score of at least 80 percent a blue window sticker, whilst those scoring 95 percent and above are entitled to display a 'gold standard' accreditation.
The forecourt is the first in the region to receive a gold rating since the window sticker scheme was rolled out during the summer. Each sticker is dated and lasts for 12 months from the time of the inspection.
Window badges are awarded at the assessors' discretion and sites will be required to demonstrate they are committed to continual improvement.
Mamoun Ahmed, site operator, Bancroft Service Station said: “Our new window badge is the forecourt equivalent of a five star food hygiene rating sticker on a restaurant or fast food outlet and it gives our customers the confidence that we are a safe site.".
“We are proud of the hard work and achievements of our staff team, who will continue to make a visit to our site a safe and enjoyable one.”
Neil Simms, compliance manager, Suresite Group, said: "Our new scheme rewards forecourts that achieve good scores on their compliance audits. This demonstrates the operators’ commitment to ensuring the safety of staff, contractors and customers that visit that site.".
"With their badge on display, all visitors to the site will know that health & safety is a top consideration.".
“Bancroft Service Station is a very worthy recipient of the first gold sticker in Greater Manchester.”
Ian Woodcock, retail director, Harvest Energy, said: “We are delighted Mamoun and his team have achieved this high rating. As a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation that champions high standards of Health & Safety, we have a set of core values that form the basis of our business; one of which is a commitment to excellence.
"Our aim is to be the best in class in every aspect of our business, of which health & safety is a key area. Mamoun and his team at Bancroft Service Station have shown real drive and commitment, and it is fantastic for this to be recognised and celebrated.”
