Barney & Taylor Creates A Buzz With City Centre Treasure Hunt

Barney & Taylor Creates A Buzz With City Centre Treasure Hunt

Barney & Taylor is celebrating the launch of its new Autumn / Winter leather collection, corporate branding and website with an exciting Manchester bee-themed treasure hunt around the city centre – with luxury leather goods worth £5,000 up for grabs.

Twenty Barney & Taylor bees (which form part of the company’s logo) have been placed at key locations around Manchester with clues as to where they are being posted given away on Twitter, Facebook and the Barney & Taylor blog. The treasure hunt starts on Friday 24th October and runs all weekend, until all the prizes have been claimed.

Each of the twenty bees has instructions and each one comes in a different colour to identify the prize to be won. The luxury prizes include two leather jackets worth up to £1000 each (one men’s and one women’s), bags and accessories as well as discount codes for the Barney and Taylor online store and dinner and drinks vouchers for city centre venues.

If you find a clue, you’ll be given the details of a website where you will instantly find out if you’re a winner. You enter your details and receive information about your prize. If you are unsuccessful, you will receive an extra clue to another bee placed around the city. Barney & Taylor will be making a 25p donation to the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust for every email address obtained during the treasure hunt.

The bee design features an ampersand symbol, part of the new Barney & Taylor brand identity designed by Manchester website and graphic design agency, Ahoy. The bees will be placed around the city centre at bee-themed locations or near iconic Manchester landmarks. More information can be found on the dedicated microsite: http://beeinthecity.co.uk.

Founded and still based in Manchester, and one of the UK’s oldest family-owned leather brands, Barney and Taylor offers a timeless collection of women’s and men’s high end leather jackets and accessories. Arron brothers, Michael and Richard, are fourth generation family members of the business.

Richard Arron, co-director of Barney & Taylor says, “The treasure hunt should create a real buzz in the city to really raise awareness of our new collection, the new eye-catching branding and the website. The bee-themed activity draws on our own corporate identity and heritage as well as the Manchester Bee symbol, adopted as a motif of Manchester during the Industrial Revolution. We’re delighted to be making a donation towards the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust as part of the campaign too.

“Now is an exciting time for the business as we are looking to secure additional stockists nationwide as well as consolidating our position in the leather goods manufacturing sector. Leather is part of our family’s DNA. We are committed to evolving the Barney & Taylor brand with the aim of becoming a global market leader in luxury leather.”

Look out for the treasure hunt clues on Twitter (@BarneyandTaylor) and Facebook from 9am on the 24th October, using the hashtag #beeinthecity or visit the dedicated treasure hunt website: http://beeinthecity.co.uk for more details.
