Export Week To Help North West Businesses Start Or Increase Trade Overseas

Events to help North West businesses to start exporting or increase their international trade are being held throughout the region as part of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Export Week from November 9th to 13th.
UKTI North West and its partners and business organisations are together staging a range of events and webinars throughout the week of Monday 9th November to Friday 13th November inclusive to open global trading doors for local businesses.
Five keynote events in the North West during Export Week are:
Spotlight on Asia Pacific at Best Western Castle Green, Kendal on Monday 9th November. This event will focus on opportunities in Hong Kong, China and Japan, with speakers from Cumbria LEP Board, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Lancaster University as well as case studies from businesses who have already experienced success in the region.
Spotlight on India at Baker Tilly in Preston on Tuesday 10th November – the day will involve discussions of export opportunities in key sectors in India - with speakers from the UK India Business Council, company case studies and Baker Tilly and a live link with RSM experts in India.
The following day, Wednesday 11th November, sees the Spotlight on Middle East event at the Heath Business & Technical Park in Runcorn. This event will focus on UAE and Saudi Arabia with speakers including UKTI’s North West consultant on strategic alliances, company case studies, UK Export Finance as well as feedback on previous sector missions.
On Thursday 12th November the Royal Park Hotel in Cheshire will host the Spotlight on Africa event. Speakers at this event include Guy Warrington, from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Ross Alexander, executive director of Africa Matters Ltd. Both will discuss how business can grow in Africa, one of the world’s most dynamic business regions with growth rates of up to 8%, a population of over a billion and $2 trillion collective GDP. The event will explore legal finance, culture and language of the region, and offer the opportunity to ask any questions with regards to business etiquette.
The week comes to a close with the Explore Export event at Old Trafford Football Stadium on Friday 13th November from 8.30am to 4pm – at which market specialists from around the world who are experts in their chosen countries will help businesses take their first or next step in exporting. Over 50 UKTI commercial officers and British Chamber of Commerce representatives from over 40 global markets will offer detailed export advice to a wide variety of UK based companies. These highly experienced market specialists will provide valuable insights, direct routes to market and present new business opportunities.
There are also a range of showcase and partner events North West businesses can attend.
HMRC are holding three live webinars throughout the week. During the hour long sessions attendees can ask questions throughout the presentation and get answers from the HMRC host. These are aimed at new exporters or those that are considering exporting and will provide a good basic introduction to what is required. The webinars take place on Monday 9th November at 15.00, Wednesday 11th November at 13.00 and Friday 13th November at 10.00.
On Wednesday 11th November, Duncan Wright, director of BSA Marketing, gives insight into the journey from developing a core UK business supplying the NHS to taking on the USA with his client, Slõ Drinks. Duncan will be joined at the Chester University hosted event by representatives from UKTI and The Business Growth Service.
On the same day there is a further USA-themed event, this time hosted in Manchester, with UKTI and BDO highlighting the opportunities available when exporting to America.
Thursday 12th November sees the second annual Insider International Trade Forum. This event will bring together key global business in the North West to debate three big topics that are shaping the future of import and export.
